Script injection via unescaped attribute hash keys
Published May 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in affected Ruby on Rails Action View releases allows remote attackers to inject script through tag helpers. Tag helpers serialize hash keys as HTML attribute names without properly escaping attacker-controlled characters. Exploitation requires an application to use attacker-controlled data as a tag-attribute hash key and a user to render the output, enabling script execution in that user's browser.
