Root code execution via circled stack overflow
Published Mar 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in the circled daemon in NETGEAR R6700v3 1.0.4.120_10.0.91 allows remote attackers to execute code. A crafted circleinfo.txt file overflows a fixed-length stack buffer when the daemon processes its contents. The service requires authentication, but the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed, enabling code execution as root from an adjacent network.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
