Root code execution via protected-page authentication bypass
Published Mar 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Authentication bypass in NETGEAR R6700v3 1.0.4.120_10.0.91 allows network-adjacent attackers to execute code as root. readycloud_control.cgi uses incorrect string matching when identifying protected pages, exposing privileged functionality without an authentication check. Reachability requires the router WiFi password or an Ethernet connection, after which the bypass grants root-level code execution.
