Unauthenticated privilege escalation via password recovery
Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated May 2, 2025
Missing authentication in SICK SIM1000 FX firmware before 1.6.0 allows remote attackers to gain RecoverableUserLevel access. The password recovery method grants the configured recoverable user level without first authenticating the requester. Network access to the recovery interface is sufficient, and the elevated session permits actions affecting device data and operation.
