Code execution via unsafe project-file deserialization
Published Jul 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Deserialization in SICK AG Flexi Soft Designer 1.9.4 SP1 and earlier allows attackers to execute code through crafted project files. A .NET framework class deserializes project-file data without proper validation, allowing embedded object data to trigger code execution. A local user must manually open or import the file, and execution inherits that user's privileges.
