CVE-2022-27567Network attack vector

Remote out-of-bounds write via parser_hvcC input validation

Published Apr 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

A null pointer dereference in libsimba on Samsung Mobile Devices Q(10) through S(12) allows remote attackers to write out of bounds. The parser_hvcC function fails to validate input data before parsing it, allowing an invalid pointer state to direct a write beyond the intended memory bounds. The attack requires no privileges or user interaction, and Samsung does not report code execution, a crash, or persistent data modification.
