Arbitrary code execution via TIF buffer write
Published Jun 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Autodesk 3ds Max 2022, 2021, and 2020 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via a malicious TIF file. The TIF image parser writes past an allocated buffer when processing attacker-controlled image data, corrupting process memory. Exploitation requires a victim to open or otherwise process the crafted file locally; the vendor describes code execution in the current process and does not describe a network-only attack.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
