CVE-2022-27531

Process-memory disclosure via out-of-bounds TIF read

Published Jun 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Autodesk 3ds Max 2020 through 2022 allows context-dependent attackers to expose process memory via a crafted TIF file. The TIF parser reads attacker-controlled image data beyond its allocated memory boundaries. A user must cause 3ds Max to parse the file; this flaw alone discloses memory, while code execution requires chaining another vulnerability.
