Server crash via stale virtual-column expression state
Published Apr 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in affected MariaDB Server 10.2 through 10.9 builds allows attackers to crash the server via crafted SQL. The virtual-column expression lifecycle leaves session-dependent expression state invalid between table uses, and item comparison evaluation dereferences that stale state in sql/item_cmpfunc.cc. An attacker must be able to create and query a table with a crafted generated virtual-column expression; successful exploitation terminates the server process and interrupts database service.
