Code execution via unsigned CustomDetection executable
Published Jun 6, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Code execution in Caphyon Advanced Installer 19.3 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to run a local executable. The update check trusts attacker-supplied CustomDetection and CustomDetectionParameters values, then launches that local EXE without verifying its signer. Exploitation requires control of the update response, a pre-positioned executable, and a user to launch the updater; code runs with that user's privileges.
