CVE-2022-27377Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server crash via stale statement-arena allocation

Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Use-after-free in MariaDB Server 10.6.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to crash the server with crafted SQL statements. Item_func_in allocates its in_vector array in the statement arena instead of the table expression arena, leaving cleanup to access released memory. Reachability requires permission to submit the generated-column definition and insert that trigger complex BLOB conversion; the demonstrated consequence is a server crash.
