CVE-2022-27305Network attack vector

Session takeover via unrotated post-login identifier

Published May 25, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Session fixation in Gibbon before 23.0.02 allows remote attackers to assume an authenticated user's session after user interaction. The root login.php flow preserves the pre-authentication session identifier instead of regenerating it after credentials are accepted. Exploitation requires an attacker to supply or learn the victim's pre-login identifier and induce that victim to authenticate with it, after which the same identifier grants access to the victim's active account.
