Patient amendment disclosure via missing ACL checks
Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in OpenEMR before 7.0.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to read patient amendment data without required rights. The patient amendment add, list, and print handlers fail to enforce the patients/amendment ACL, while the edit form relies on an unrelated patients/trans permission. Any signed-in account that can reach these handlers can view amendment records beyond its assigned permissions; the published impact is limited to confidentiality.
