CVE-2022-27223

Out-of-bounds access via unchecked endpoint index

Published Mar 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper index validation in the Linux kernel before 5.16.12 allows attackers to trigger out-of-bounds access through USB requests. The xudc_getstatus and xudc_set_clear_feature paths derive an endpoint number from setup.wIndex and dereference the endpoint array without first enforcing XUSB_MAX_ENDPOINTS. Exploitation requires a host capable of sending endpoint control requests to a device using the Xilinx USB gadget controller; public records do not establish whether the access causes a crash, memory disclosure, or memory modification.
