Credential disclosure via plaintext job configuration storage
Published Mar 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Plaintext password storage in Jenkins Project VMware vRealize CodeStream Plugin 1.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read job credentials. The plugin writes configured CodeStream passwords unencrypted into each affected job's config.xml file on the Jenkins controller. Item/Extended Read permission exposes the file through Jenkins, while controller file-system access exposes the same stored credentials locally.
