Macro execution via incomplete XLM sanitization
Published Jun 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incomplete macro filtering in RevoWorks SCVX, Browser, and Desktop allows context-dependent attackers to execute XLM macros from crafted files. A third-party sanitization component fails to detect or remove Microsoft Excel 4.0 macros while processing files for import from the sandbox. Execution requires a user to download, import, and open the crafted file; Browser and Desktop are exposed only when the File Sanitization Option is enabled.
