Administrator-level stored XSS via unescaped Text setting
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Ga Satrya Scroll To Top before 1.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the Text setting. The plugin saves the Text setting without adequate sanitization or output escaping, so crafted autofocus and onfocus attributes execute when the settings page is reopened. Administrator-level access is required, and exploitation is relevant when unfiltered_html is disallowed, including WordPress multisite installations; the injected script runs in the browser of a user who opens the affected page.
