Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Apr 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unquoted service path in Ivanti DSM Remote 6.3.1.1862 and earlier allows local users to execute processes with elevated privileges. The affected Windows service leaves its executable path unquoted, so Windows can resolve an earlier path segment as an executable when the path contains spaces. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and permission to place an executable in a searched parent directory; successful execution grants the service's privileges.
