Cross-origin API access via permissive CORS defaults
Published Dec 26, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Insecure CORS defaults in Directus before 9.7.0 allow remote attackers to access its API across origins through a user's browser. The API enables CORS, reflects any supplied Origin, permits credentials, and accepts Authorization in cross-origin requests by default. Exploitation requires a user to visit an attacker-controlled origin while browser credentials or authorization are available, enabling that origin to read responses or submit API actions under the user's access.
