Remote code execution via nvram entry overflow
Published May 12, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Improper input validation in InRouter302 V3.5.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted nvram configuration requests. The httpd user_define_set_item path parses unlimited comma-separated user_define_timeout entries into a 100-element stack array, so excess entries overwrite stack data and the return address. Exploitation requires access to the router's configuration interface; successful corruption can execute attacker-controlled code and affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
