CVE-2022-26767

Privacy preference bypass via insufficient permission checks

Published May 26, 2022 · Updated May 30, 2025

Authorization bypass in Apple macOS Big Sur before 11.6.6 and Monterey before 12.4 allows local users to evade Privacy preferences. LaunchServices fails to perform sufficient permission checks when an application requests access governed by those privacy controls. Execution of a malicious application and user interaction are required; successful exploitation exposes privacy-protected data without changing it or interrupting service.
