Kernel code execution via out-of-bounds write
Published May 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in AVEVideoEncoder in Apple tvOS before 15.5 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. AVEVideoEncoder writes past a buffer boundary because its bounds validation is insufficient, but Apple has not identified the affected function or input. A locally running application must reach the component, and successful exploitation executes code in the kernel rather than only in that application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
