Photo location disclosure via faulty state management
Published May 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Apple macOS before 12.4 allows attackers to retain photo location data removed through Preview Inspector. Preview Inspector uses faulty state management when removing photo location metadata, so the location information persists. Exploitation requires access to a photo processed by that removal workflow, and the reported consequence is limited to disclosure of the residual location.
