CVE-2022-26706Public exploit

Sandbox escape via LaunchServices access-control issue

Published May 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Sandbox escape in LaunchServices in Apple watchOS before 8.6 allows local users to circumvent application sandbox restrictions. Apple attributes the flaw to third-party application access controls but does not disclose the watchOS operation that fails to enforce the sandbox. Microsoft demonstrated a macOS handler-launch path outside the caller's sandbox, but that published path does not establish watchOS exploitability.
