Stored script execution via unchecked attachment uploads
Published Apr 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Halo Blog CMS 1.4.17 allows remote authenticated users to store malicious scripts through attachments. The uploadAttachment path passes the client file to AttachmentServiceImpl.upload, which stores it without validating its suffix, content, or format and returns its public path. Access to the administrative attachment interface is required, and visiting the returned path executes an uploaded script in the browser.
