Reflected XSS via unchecked Host headers
Published Apr 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in PKP Open Journal Systems 2.4.8 through 3.3.0-8 allows remote attackers to run script via crafted HTTP headers. The request logic trusts HTTP_HOST, SERVER_NAME, and HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST when formulating absolute URLs without checking an allowed-host list. A victim must follow or render a response incorporating the attacker-controlled host; public materials do not identify the exact reflection sink.
