CVE-2022-26563Network attack vector

Disabled-account access via omitted PAM account validation

Published Jul 18, 2023 · Updated Oct 28, 2024

Authentication bypass in Tildeslash Monit before 5.31.0 allows remote authenticated users with disabled accounts to access its HTTP interface. The PAMcheckPasswd function accepts a successful pam_authenticate result without calling pam_acct_mgmt to validate account status. PAM group authentication must be enabled, and remote authenticated users need a valid password for an expired or disabled account; access carries the interface privileges assigned to that group.
