Block-production halt via altered view-change packet
Published Mar 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in FISCO BCOS 3.0.0-rc2 allows remote authenticated users to halt block production via an altered view-change packet. The consensus handler repeatedly changes views after processing the altered message, but the affected fields and validation defect are undisclosed. Exploitation requires control of a member node in a four-node chain; normal nodes then stop producing blocks, interrupting transaction processing.
