Double-fetch race in the Avast and AVG Windows Anti Rootkit driver before 22.1 allows local users to execute code in kernel mode. At aswArPot+0xc4a3, the aswArPot.sys socket handler reads the user-controlled PEB command-line Length to size a buffer and again to copy data, allowing the value to change between operations. Low-privileged local code can win the race to corrupt kernel memory, causing privilege escalation or an operating-system crash.
