CVE-2022-26511

Code execution via current-directory DLL loading

Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

DLL search-order hijacking in Kingsoft Japan WPS Presentation 11.8.0.5745 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted .pps file. When wpp.exe opens the slideshow, it searches the file's directory for d3dx9_41.dll and loads an attacker-supplied library without validating its origin. A user must place the malicious DLL beside the .pps file and open the slideshow; the code then runs with the presentation process's privileges.
