Authenticated code execution via permissive PSManager authentication
Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authentication in Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5U3, 9.5U4, 10.x, and 11.x allows remote authenticated users to execute code. Veeam.Backup.PSManager.exe accepts non-administrative domain credentials on TCP port 8732 and then permits arbitrary code execution. The default installation is not exposed; exploitation requires a registered SCVMM server, and successful execution grants control of the target system.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
