Authenticated code execution via unrestricted API paths
Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Path traversal in Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5U3, 9.5U4, 10.x, and 11.x allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The Veeam Distribution Service improperly limits path names supplied to internal API functions, enabling malicious code upload and execution. A valid low-privilege account and network access to the service are sufficient to compromise the host; Veeam has not disclosed the affected endpoint.
