Administrator file disclosure via absolute path traversal
Published Mar 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Absolute path traversal in Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files. The admin/cgi-bin/rulemgr.pl/getfile/ endpoint accepts an absolute pathname in the requested resource without sanitizing or confining it to an allowed directory. Administrative access to the web application is required, and successful exploitation discloses any file readable by the root-privileged web server.
