Remote privilege escalation via uninitialized httpclient write
Published Aug 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds write in MediaTek NBIOT SDK 2.8.1 httpclient allows remote attackers to escalate privileges without interaction. The httpclient component uses uninitialized data in a write operation, allowing the write to extend beyond its intended memory bounds. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation grants elevated privileges on MT2621- or MT2625-based devices.
