Improper input validation in MediaTek mailbox software on Android 11.0, 12.0 and Yocto 3.1, 3.3 allows local users to escalate privileges. The mailbox component writes beyond a buffer because it fails to check an input-derived bound before the write; MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or field. Exploitation requires System execution privileges and no user interaction, limiting exposure to already highly privileged local code on an affected chipset.
