Device reboot via nonexistent SNMP key lookup
Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Siemens SCALANCE X-300 firmware before 4.1.4 allows remote attackers on an adjacent network to reboot affected switches. The SNMP request handler fails to verify that a requested key exists before reading it, so specific SNMP information requests reach an invalid lookup. Unauthenticated SNMP access from an adjacent network is sufficient; successful exploitation reboots the device and interrupts switching service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
