IOMMU mapping errors in Xen allow guest OS users to cause host-wide service interruption through DMA or interrupts from a PCI device. Xen fails to keep Intel VT-d reserved-memory or AMD-Vi unity-map regions continuously accessible after the associated device becomes active. Exploitation requires an x86 guest with a physical device passed through, active IOMMU hardware, and an RMRR or unity map; outcomes range from IOMMU faults to host memory corruption.
