CVE-2022-26337

Local privilege escalation via installer DLL hijacking

Published Mar 8, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Uncontrolled DLL search in the Trend Micro Password Manager installer 5.0.0.1262 and earlier allows local users to gain administrator privileges. The Windows installer searches an uncontrolled location for a required DLL and loads an attacker-planted file with elevated installation rights. Exploitation requires a crafted DLL to be present when a user launches the affected Windows installer; installed copies and non-Windows editions are unaffected.
