CVE-2022-26305Network attack vector

Macro execution via forged trusted-certificate identity

Published Jul 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper certificate validation in LibreOffice 7.2 before 7.2.7 and 7.3 before 7.3.2 allows remote attackers to execute macros via crafted documents. The trusted-author check compares only the presented certificate's serial number and issuer string with a trusted certificate, rather than verifying that the macro was signed with that certificate. Exploitation requires a user to open the document, have at least one trusted certificate configured, and run below the Very High macro security level; the macro then executes with the user's privileges.
