Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized Mac parameter
Published Mar 23, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Tenda M3 firmware V1.0.0.12(4856) allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via WriteFacMac. The /goform/WriteFacMac handler incorporates the untrusted Mac request parameter into an operating-system command without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Network access to the management endpoint is sufficient and requires neither authentication nor user interaction, so successful exploitation grants command execution in the firmware service context.
