Code execution via unneutralized spreadsheet formulas
Published Mar 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
CSV injection in SurveyKing 0.3.0 allows remote attackers to execute code or disclose data through a crafted questionnaire response. The public saveAnswer endpoint stores formula-prefixed answer values without neutralization, and the answers/download export writes them into a spreadsheet that interprets them as formulas. Exploitation requires a survey operator to export and open the poisoned file; the published proof demonstrates command execution and a hyperlink-based data disclosure payload.
