Session identifier interception via missing Secure flag
Published Feb 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper cookie protection in Cherwell Service Management 10.2.3 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept session identifiers over HTTP. The web application sets ASP.NET_SessionId without the Secure attribute, so browsers can transmit the cookie over an unencrypted connection. Exploitation requires a victim session to traverse an attacker-observable HTTP channel and exposes the session identifier; no integrity or availability impact is reported.
