CVE-2022-26131Public exploit

Unauthenticated databus injection via induced RF

Published Mar 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Electromagnetic fault injection in Hegemon Electronics PLC4TRUCKS J2497 allows physically proximate attackers to inject messages via induced RF. The receiver couples attacker-generated radio energy onto vehicle power wiring and accepts the induced waveform as valid J2497 traffic without fault-injection protection. Exploitation requires nearby radio equipment and can issue unauthenticated diagnostic commands to tractor or trailer brake controllers, actuating solenoids and interrupting service.
