Remote code execution via PDF parser out-of-bounds write
Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer 9.0 allows remote attackers to execute code via a manipulated PDF opened by a user. The PDF processing component fails to validate user-supplied data and writes past an allocated buffer, allowing code execution in the Viewer process. Exploitation requires a user to open the attacker-provided file; the documented CNA impact is application crash and temporary unavailability, while ZDI reports possible arbitrary code execution.
