Browser request triggering via unsanitized email recipient
Published Nov 10, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025
HTML injection in BMC Remedy ITSM Suite before 22.1 allows remote authenticated users to induce browser requests through incident emails. The email-forwarding REST endpoint accepts an image tag in Email.To.InternetEmail, stores it in the Activity Log, and renders its attacker-controlled src value when a recipient count is clicked. An authenticated account with incident-forwarding access and a second user's click are required; the request can reach internal services or disclose browser request metadata, while BMC disputes that real impact was demonstrated.
