Code execution via unchecked GIF data blocks

Heap-based buffer overflow in The HDF Group HDF5 1.10.4 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code via a crafted GIF file. In gifread.c, ReadGifImageDesc allocates GIFImage from image dimensions, then copies data-block bytes into it without checking the destination boundary. Exploitation requires a user or application to run gif2h5 on the file and can corrupt the heap, crash the process, or execute code in that process.
