Arbitrary file write via unchecked ZIP paths
Published Sep 11, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Path traversal in DiffPlug Goomph before 3.37.2 allows attackers to write files outside the extraction directory via malicious ZIP entries. ZipMisc.unzip joins each untrusted ZipEntry name to destinationDir and writes the result without first verifying that its normalized path remains beneath that directory. Reachability requires a custom bootstrap ZIP; successful overwrites can replace executable or configuration files and execute code with build-process privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
