Privileged code execution via unvalidated GPS port path
Published Mar 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in the pfSense WebGUI allows remote authenticated users to execute code on pfSense CE before 2.6.0 and pfSense Plus before 22.01. services_ntpd_gps.php accepts a relative gpsport path and writes the gpsinitcmd configuration value into an existing firewall file. Access to services_ntpd_gps.php, permission to alter firewall configuration, and a disabled baud-rate check are all required.
