Authenticated root shell access via hidden console command
Published May 12, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Command execution in the InHand Networks InRouter302 V3.5.4 console allows remote authenticated users to obtain a root shell. The hidden inhand command decrypts a stored password with a hard-coded AES key and launches /bin/sh when that password is supplied. A low-privileged Telnet or SSH account can reach the restricted router console, and successful use grants unrestricted root command execution.
