Code execution via unchecked GIF decompression offset

An out-of-bounds write in HDF5 1.10.4 gif2h5 allows local users to execute code when a crafted GIF is converted. In decompress.c, gif2h5 uses the GIF code size to calculate heap-buffer write offsets without verifying that the resulting location remains within bounds. Execution requires a user or local process to invoke the converter on attacker-controlled input, and resulting code runs with that process's privileges.
